January & February 2025 - Life Update

January and February are usually fairly quiet months for me, lots of work and reading. As February comes to an end and the days get brighter and the Six Nations gets goings the years picks up some momentum.

  1. My 2024 Annual Review. This is always a special time of the year for me. Check out other reviews here. And AI analysis here.
  2. I’m going back to University to complete a Masters in Independent Prescribing (Non doctor prescribing) and both filled with excitement and dread. I'm excited to learn again in a university setting. When I did my first Masters (of Pharmacy) I partied so much I did just enough to get through without enjoying the process. I'm also dreading finding the time to study which I will need to do a lot.
  3. Went to the Lake District for a walking holiday and it was amazing - stunning scenery, quaint pubs, and banging grub. This part of the England feels like it’s not even in the UK.
  4. Learned what ‘bagging’ the Wainwrights is - and who Alfred Wainwright was
  5. Josh Waitzkin on Huberman Lab - The Art of Learning by Waitzkin is perhaps the book that has had the most impact on me a person. I regularly reread it and everytime I do I feel I'm only scratching the surface. Watch the episode here.
  6. Hyperion by Dan Simmons. While on a stag party in Valencia - smoking cigarettes and drinking wine at 2am on the street, me and a friend of a friend got talking about what books we like. After finding similar interests he mentioned Hyperion which I hadn't read - he smiled and said I need to buy it for the way home. Murray I salute you - it's fucking great.
  7. The Great American Poisoning by Justin Mares. A must read thought piece on the American Food system (Western). I sent this to everyone I know.
  8. Yellowstone - the tv show. Great show, great setting. Told my financé I want to buy a ranch.
