Life Update - October 2024

The post was originally posted on my Substack - What's meant for you.. on 27th Novmeber 2024.
- Birthdays - October was a big birthday month for me. I’ve my Dad’s birthday, one of my good friends 30th and more. For my friend’s 30th we Airbnbed a castle in Ireland for the weekend and had a lovely dinner party and drinks. As well as a game of Murder Mystery.

- Flu season is one of the most important and busiest seasons of the year in pharmacy. Starting usually on the first week of October we have a few weeks of 12 hour days getting >1000 people vaccinated.
- One of the four pharmacies I help run is currently undergoing a full shop refit. This is great and exciting but the problem with pharmacies is they can’t shut down for a few days for the construction. This means that we’re dispensing amidst the builders and among the cacophony of dust and drilling.
- We attended one of the biggest Pharmacy Show’s in the UK last month, while mostly it’s about meeting suppliers we did get to see some talks - one of particular interest was about independent prescribing.
- Becoming a better pharmacist - In my quest to be a better pharmacist I’ve created checklists for the start and end of the day. H/T Checklist Manifesto.

- Hiking - I got my first hike of a 100 in the bag (100 Club) - Cannock Chase

- The Silmarillion - I’m listening to this on Spotify Premium and it is so so good. I’m deep down the Tolkien rabbit hole right now.
- New trail runners - SALOMON XA PRO 3D V9 GORE-TEX - these bad boys are the business. I first heard about these in Jack Carr’s Terminal List series as they are the preferred shoes of the protagonist - James Reece.
